Dhaka Topi Store began as the dream of one person who longed to feel at home while living far from Nepal. Our founder, a first‑generation Nepali immigrant in California’s Bay Area, missed the taste of Wai Wai noodles, the warmth of hand‑loomed daura suruwal, the pride of wearing a perfectly fitted Dhaka topi and the joy of sharing those traditions with family and friends. What started as a small personal project to source snacks and clothing soon blossomed into a full‑fledged online marketplace serving Nepali communities across the United States.

The name “Dhaka Topi” was chosen because it represents resilience and identity. The Dhaka topi is a symbol of Nepali heritage; it’s worn at weddings, celebrations and on ordinary days to honour our roots. By naming the store after this iconic hat, our founder signaled a commitment to preserving and sharing the best of Nepali culture. Today, our warehouse in Richmond, California stocks carefully curated products—everything from buffalo sukuti and gundruk to pasni dresses and Newari saris—so you can celebrate traditions no matter where you live.
